Simply stated, the team’s research methodology seeks long-term outperformance by investing at the intersection of positive fundamental and sustainable business drivers. Indeed, many of the things that Brown Advisory clients care about, from conservation of natural resources to solutions for global food and health care challenges, are being tackled by smart companies as ways to win in their markets. It is this kind of purposeful thinking that has helped many companies to grow their revenues, reduce costs, and increase market share—and set them up for success.

Brown Advisory has a long history in the sustainable investing space – the firm’s deep fundamental research capabilities and long-term investment horizon require a view on the sustainability challenges and opportunities that companies face today. To bolster its expertise, in 2009 the firm acquired Winslow Management Company, a pioneer of ‘green investing’ in the 1980s. In 2014, Brown Advisory became a signatory to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment and is an investor signatory on the Carbon Disclosure Project, amongst other partnerships.
